I have an F80 M3 and had previously been able to open up the exhaust noise valve using the M1/M2 preset buttons however since changing the preferences a few times it doesnt seem to be working for me. Does anyone know how to set this up or what settings it opens up for?

The exhaust valve is controlled by the throttle setting if it's in efficient it won't open until you plant your foot down, in sport or sport+ it's open although not all the time it will close in certain situations.

You can unplug the valve controls going into the exhaust.

That will leave the valves open all the time.

You can, but your neighbours won't thank you, exhaust valve controllers are also available.

cheers guys, yes throttle setting seems to do it. its a shame, i'm not the biggest fan of sport and def not sport plus, makes it a little bit jolty under controlled throttle-use.

Why the hell did you buy an M car?

The efficient mode is there simply for emissions and nothing else. Stick it in Sport/Sport + and actually enjoy the car.

I only drive in Sports plus mode. Re exhaust noise my neighbours are fine, they were used to the Vantage after I pulled fuse 22.

But that probably sounded OK.

HAAA! don't worry dude, i bought the car for the right reasons and get the most out of it. its just annoying to get the car to make the best noise the juice pedal needs to be ultra sensitive, don't understand why the two are linked. surely the exhaust valves should be linked to the the gearbox ratios + paddles/manual - that would make more sense in my mind.

Get a cg precision valve controller. i ordered mine from the manufacturer in the US. fantastic bit of kit and relativity cheap. this will solve your problems as you can have it configured to have the valves always open, then at the push of a button return to OEM settings, or the reverse of that and press the button for the open flaps mode.

excellent mod, easily fitted and wont effect warranty (ive checked with my main dealer and they were fine with it)
