I finally got around to upgrading the speakers in my S1 Elise.

I have a JVC KDSH-99 head unit, which works well with the radio, plays mp3's so I don't need a changer and has subwoofer outputs.

The mai speakers were swapped out for some Eclipse full range units which have metal dome tweeters, proper crossovers built in, and they sound far better than the orginal cheapo Alpines. There were just about the only ones that would fit, and they are on fairly deep spacers. There is just room for the seat belts to run between the spacers and the rollbar/bodywork.

I saw the Pioneer woofer tube recommended for the Elise a while ago and fitted one behind the driver seat (my car is LHD). Its easily removable for track days.

The difference is amazing, I can hear (and feel) music loud and clear even driving top down at speed.

I wanted to fit speakers in the front, but its difficult to find a place to mount them so thats a project for the future.

Nice job mate, had a sub like that one in my Mr2 Turbo, makes quite a noise for such a small bit of kit.

Looks good.
