I know, I know, a 'what causes this noise?' is the worst thread on a cycling forum!

I not so long ago fitted 38mm carbon wheels to my Wilier, they are Zuus wheels and so far have been running nicely.

I changed the supplied cork pads to Swisstop to improve the braking performance and around the same time a 'whistling' noise appears to develop from the rear.

It's best described as the pads rubbing against the rim but I'm 99% confident that's not the case, there is plenty of clearance between pad and rim.

When I spin the wheel quickly on the stand there is a slight 'howling' noise, this is leading me to think perhaps it's the Novatec hub.

The wheels don't feel rough, nor is there any obvious dragging but it's still pissing me off.

Rubber hub seal squealing on aluminium hub body? Had this before. Drop of oil to cure.

New tyre with those little rubber "pips" left over from the production process? Should they hit the brake caliper or frame, they can makes quite a noise.
