Bonnet vents

Been thinking about those vents in my bonnet.
I've seen some grills for them before. Anyone know where I can get some?

Also, I'm thinking about neon lights. I wonder how it would look with a green neon under the bonnet so there's a nice green glow from underneath... Cool or tacky?

the vent grille you've seen was me I would iguess.. I did the job last year and posted it up one here. Other people have also done it in the past. Its just a home-made effort, no-one is selling a kit for it.

Mesh grills I think have mostly been home made custom fit jobs, do a search on the Chim forum (think the thread title was something like does this look good or a bit max muppet? General consensus was it looked pretty good.
As for the neons, your not serious are you?

Done by the previous owner, I quite like it. It seems to be the regular stuff you buy from B&Q, stuck in place with silicone

This is a joke, right? Get's hotter than a Maxed Saxo under a TVR bonnet. I think the green glow will soon become brown smoke as lamp fittings start to melt.

I did see a blue Chim the other week with 2 "viper" like white stripes over the bonnet and boot, anyone here?

That is SHIITE (F**king with the vents). The Chim 500 Dark Blue was on this years Gumball - that was ok - and likely to be stick ons for the rally race - what ever they car it.

Mesh - WHY - only slow the extraction of air.
Neon - I did not spot that but I am going to have some of that.

Why.. to stop all the crap that falls in throught the vents from doing so. And at the front, to stop a stone from swiftly killing the radiator. I have three mature trees in the garden that dump all kinds of crud over the cars, thats why I fited the vents with mesh as I got sick of the smell of burning leaves. As for slowing the extraction of air, well I chose a mesh that was very transparent in the direction of the airflow to minimise any disruption of flow both to the rad and from the bonnet vents... I tested the airflow through it too (fairly rudimentarily I'll grant you) before fitting and found that it made no real difference at all.

It was a practical solution to a common problem.. why are you getting so uptight about it..?

Firstly, I'm stunned by the reaction - especially if this refers to the mesh…. No need to be so blatent, if you feel the need to state such an opinion, why can't you put something along the lines of "not a fan myself".

With regards to the mesh fitted by M@H, yes it is an effective solution to a common problem. In fact the S series that I had came with mesh fitted FROM THE FACTORY on the vents that flanked the bonnet, and at the front end
