Oh that looks a great idea. Are you thinking of making them?

Looks good, but for that to work won't both hinges have to face the same way?

I don't see that... however I think it would be a fiddle to get both the tongues entered into the box-sections simultaneously; they would flop down to vertical so it would still be a multi person job... but it looks great!

Are the rose joints not both attached to a rigid structure (the bonnet)? So you could slide one in but that wouldn't leave enough space to get the other in. Another way to look at it is, assume they are installed and you want to remove the bonnet. You undo the screws and then what? You can't slide either side out. Maybe I'm missing something smile

The plates are bolted longitudinally to the sides of the nose, so the bonnet complete with tongues would slide out forwards out of them...

Ah, I get you. Sorry, I thought they faced sideways/outwards.

They do seem good idea.
I started a post on the Chimaera forum a few weeks ago to see if anybody had any original "Steve Heath" versions spare, supposed to be easy to remove the bonnet single handed-ly,,, so far nobody seems to...??
This chap has popped up selling his versions, they are approx. 150 euros a pair, but then theres postage etc etc, if they were 100 euros I might be tempted...Just seems a tad steep for a pair of bonnet hinges...
