Windscreen Surround

Have a problem, I have some chips in my windscreen and autoglass are replacig it but they can't find the rubber surrounds, they say they can order from TVR but can take "weeks"

Does anyone know where I can get one sooner?

Thankfully I have not had this problem yet, but I happened to be reading "the bible's" advice on this the other day.
It said that the windscreens are specially made for TVR and they are bonded in. It strongly recommends that the replacement is done by a TVR specialist becuase unless the fitter is very careful it is easy to damage the covering on the inside of the windscreen pillars and the dashboard. If these get damaged the cost of repairing the trim could exceed the cost of the windscreen replacement by a long way.
It acknowledged that most insurance companies insist that you use their replacement company, but if you explain the potential "extra" cost if damage is done they usually relent.

Just out of interest can't the chips be repaired? It would be much less hassle.

Frost do a glass repair kit - see here.

However, if my windscreen had started to show signs of delamination (the milky clouding at the corners), I'd deffo have the whole thing replaced.

Very good point about getting someone who knows what they're doing to carry out the repairs.

It has quite a bad chip / crack and seems to be growing so would rather replace it all now - its all free and doesn't affect my claims which is cool. I explained to the guy that it has leather dash / surrounds and if its damaged they replace it so thats ok.

Ours was replaced by Autoglass (insurer insisted) who put in a non TVR windscreen which must be slightly bigger as it looked ridiculous and the rubber surround just didn't look right - correction it was abysmal.
Ensure that you get agreement that it will be a TVR windscreen ordered from one of the delaers - ours was from TMS (live in Brum). Also tell them about the potential damage to leather and paint. Ours ended up costing Autoglass over £2.5k.

They sounded "delighted" when I insisted they get a proper Tiv windsgreen, then mentioned that otherwise could incur more cost if they bodge it - mentioned the figure of 2.5k - thanks for the tip off!
