Roof Rack & Box
Discussion
Does anyone have any good recommendations for a roof rack and roofbox system?
Thule and Exodus ones seem to be popular but are there any other good ones around?
Not entirely sure on size but on the basis it's better to have too much than too little a full size one is probably the best bet.
It's to go on a 2014 Merc C Class estate so it already had the roof rails.
Thanks

I have always used Thule Roof Bars/Feet Packs on my Audi's and a very good Exodus Roof Box. Its been great over the years.
New SQ5 was handed over with a set of Roofbars with it, which was nice so need to dump the bars and feet on the Bay of the E.
Search Ebay for a pre-owned set of bars for your car - if they come with the footpack for your model bonus, if not just by those from Halfrauds.
Use the THULE website to find out what 3 bits you need (Bars/Feet/Fitting) and write the numbers down.

I can really recommend Atera Signo bars - just as good as the Thule bars but a bit cheaper.
roofbox.co.uk stock most things and are excellent.
Another roofbox.co.uk recommendation. Got the Atera bars myself (on a BMW tourer with roof rails), also had a set for my old Passat saloon. Roof box I went for was the KAMEI Delphin. Been very pleased with it. roofbox.co.uk stock most things and are excellent.
I have a thule box on a set of BMW bars (on a BMW saloon - wanted to make sure they would fit!). The thule system is so easy to use - push the clamps though the slots on the base of the box and handtighten using the large plastic wheel - takes just a couple of minutes to take on and off (bars take a little longer but no big deal)
I've got the Atera Signo aero bars which are excellent on our roof railed Seat Leon ST, and a Kamei 510 roofbox.
One thing to consider is that many of the cheaper boxes only open on one side which can make fitting and packing them difficult, particularly with larger boxes on a taller car. The Kamei 510 is one of the cheaper large boxes that unlocks on both sides and has won the Auto Express group tests for the last couple of years. I've ben very impressed with it so far having fitted it a couple of weeks ago, looking forward to it being used in anger for the first time on a camping trip this weekend.

Asda have a cheapie roof bag on offer at the moment £30
As for roof racks I just bought a Mont Blanc rack cost of £65 from an independent rather than the £220 halfrauds wanted for a Thule system
It's not as pretty as a Thule and has no fancy aerodynamics but for occasional kayak duties it's fine.
