V10 vanos solenoid valves
Discussion
Sorry to say, it's true.... On 1st July BMW amended the price of these to £800ish plus VAT each for exactly the same item as before. It's now 10x the price of the original (still expensive for a solenoid) price.
They are unique to the M5 and know one yet reconditions them... I suspect that might change.
When I enquired with my local BMW dealer they offered me a 10% discount, but it's still silly expensive if you replace all 4 of them.
For information, it's now cheaper to buy the entire vanos block which includes the 2 solenoids!

If this is true they are taking the piss.

Simply eye watering level of inflation.....very naughty of BMW.
Is Steve @ Mr Vanos not offering a repair service for these yet?

If he isn't i bet he soon will be...

When I spoke to mrvanos he wasn't aware of the change and rang BMW to confirm lol... He wasn't best pleased, BMW are taking the piss, even re tooling wouldn't justify it as they are not a complex unit that would be expensive to produce in small numbers.
Someone eventually will develop an alternative or repair

ds in this regard, they did it with e39 solenoids as well. Not to mention other small stupid things like oil filter mounts that used to cost a few quid going up to over £30 from bmminiparts, never mind a dealer.
