Hope you lot are right that the Gen 2 is a better car than a Gen 1 as I have just traded my lovely Gen 1 for this.

997.2 my personal favourite. (Not a fan of the later 991 as it's a bit of an umpaloompah). 997.20 pretty from the outside and looks good in virtually any colour. Important updates for me included the touch screen PSM. Although mine was the 3.8 RS I have driven other variants and they are good allround sports cars. Hope your one surpasses your expectations. Have many happy and safe miles.

Could not buy a R8, prices are plummeting like a stone, and just looks like a large TT to me, plus I would have to have the v10 and not the baby v8, thanks for you kind remarks anyway...............
£44k R8's havent budged for 4 years now actuallyEnjoy your white car
After quite a few Porsches I thought I'd try an R8 V10. Drove fixed and drop head. Glorious engine noise. Car is only for poseurs though. No storage to speak of, unless you can get everything in a`Tescos bag for life`. Headroom worse than 911's or Boxsters come to think of it. Can't do track days because head hits the roof lining even before putting on a crash helmet. 911 RS had a bolt in cage. Removeable in about 45 minutes. So track car becomes touring version with loads of storage behind the seats as well as the front compartment (which is about the same size as the R8 front compartment). A pointless car IMHO and it's an Audi. Already have an A6 black edition and an SQ5 so sitting in the R8 didn't feel any different only somewhat claustrophobic.

Thanks Jake, I will let you know how I get on????
385 bhp should keep you happy. Knowing how conservative Porsche normally are you've probably got closer to 400bhp. Note that the first generation of GT3 (996 version from 1999) had 360bhp so you ought to have fun driving this car. Much more bhp than this and its a waste on our congested roads and just leads to total frustration.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
