Hi All

I'm getting married next year and don't want a ring and have negotiated that I can get a watch instead. Winner.

Struggling to find something for £500 that fits my criteria of

Dress Watch
Either
White face/Brown strap
Or Black Face/Black Strap.
Stainless back/sides.
Not too skinny.
Not too big.
Would like an exposed mech but not imperative.

Found a Certina DS4 (small Face) that looks nice but can't find anywhere to try one.

I love the style of the Tag Carrera Calibre range but can't justify the price.

I'd take a look at Hamilton. Creation have good prices that are within budget

Hi Bertrum

May I introduce you to this little beauty from Muhle-Glashutte

I'm tempted to caution you that the offer is time dependent .............. It'll run out as and when Mrs T6 leaves me alone with both the laptop & credit card laugh

For new, Tissot Visodate or Hamilton Thin-o-matic (38mm not 42mm).

Get a look at the Hamilton too. You might only find the 42mm in shops but even so it'll give you an idea. The Hamilton doesn't photograph well, but its twice teh watch that the Tissot is and the Tissot is already a bargain.
Yeah, the Hamilton is a bit dearer, but worth every penny.

I have a Steinhart B-uhr 44mm and love it. However, I wouldn't class it as a dress watch and it wears very tall. It struggles over cuffs.

Exchange rate is against you but given your wife to be will be getting an expensive engagement ring, hopefully you can stretch the budget to match and get a manufacture movement rather than the ETA swatches in many high street brands
