Am watching the olympic track cycling.

Chris Boardman did his little intro on what the Kierin was and how it works. He mentioned something like

In recent years the even has been somewhat sanitised with speed regulated, bringing into question the need for the derny bike

.. I was curious what this really meant..

I assume that only the segment of the race thats behind the derny is regulated? - looks to me like they are going hell for leather once it pulls in...

The derny is now limited to a max speed of 50kmh for the men and 45kmh for the women.
