Giant Anthem SX
Discussion
Just venturing into the world of full suss after being a hard tail devotee and have ordered an Anthem SX 2.
Anyone riding one or have any views ?
I figured the 100mm travel rear was 100mm more than my old bike but I wanted a bit more than my current 100mm on the front, to help with down hills and deep ruts etc.
so the Sx with 100rear/120front seemed a logical choice. ( and I like the colour)
Pick it up this weekend so fingers crossed we get on !

Very nearly bought one last week, used to have an old 26" Anthem which I loved..
3 things put me off.
Its QR rear wheel.
They are a bit Flexy.
In October the all new 2017 Anthem SX is out with new frame, even better geometry, longer shock stroke, one piece carbon rocker arm, bolt through/boost etc.
At a (presumably) discounted price the 2016 is a great buy though. The Maestro is the best perfoming suspension system in my eyes.
In the end I bought a Boardman as I couldn't resist the value, but I might change to a 2017 Antham SX frame next year!

Nice! An extra 20mm travel and a dropper post over my 100mm all-round 2015 Anthem.
So I can't help with a review of the SX, but mine's been brilliant so far. I saved £600 off the price back in March because it was "last year's model" and christened it with a weekend's racing at Battle on the Beach. That was marred by a broken quick-link, but to be fair that was not really a 'bike fault'.
Since then I've done a smidgin over 1260 miles on it, and apart from an 'operator error' OTB moment on it a couple of Sundays ago I can safely say I've enjoyed every single mile. I'm pretty sure you'll really enjoy it, it's an easy bike to live with, and I've been a lot faster on stuff I'd ridden for years on a hard tail since I got mine. Even one or two Strava KOMs, where before the Anthem I had none...

...The SX version uses a 120mm front fork to shift that versatile performance range from XC riding to more challenging trails whilst retaining that fast handling and responsive ride Anthem has always had...
Both of those 'extras' are desirable, and there's a few component upgrades in amongst the drive train too.So I can't help with a review of the SX, but mine's been brilliant so far. Thanks folks , nice to see positive comments.
Yes the bike was well discounted as season end , still more than I ever thought I would spend on a bike tho !
I'm hoping the 120 mm travel up front , coupled with 27.5 wheels and dropper post will help me avoid the OTB moments .
Looking forwards to trying it out , hopefully fri night . In the rain 😀.
