Before you can answer my question, i need a little advise about how to add the picture.........

You need to get the pic hosted somewhere.

Then in your post embed the picture within the [ pic ] and [ /pic ] tags (without spaces)

they are halfords specials, very similiar to spiders..

sadly only available upto 17" x 7" although obviously do come in ford 4 stud pattern.

So shouldnt be too expensive then. I only want 17"s anyway. 18" inch in the styles i like are only 5 stud or to expensive. im going for the easy option. Sprayed pearl grey with a flip should look the nuts though on my Starmist Blue.

I looked into this, but the only problem (as Nano2nd has pointed out) is that they are only 7" wide. Which means you can't put 225/50/ tyres on. They come with 205's as standard.

So from behind the car will look crap with skinny tyres on.

Edited to weed out crap spelling and grammar.

Sounded to me like a relatively innocent (if admittedly not very PC) aside, rather than a "regionist" insult or call-to-arms.

I am running 215/40/17 on 7" rims at the front and these are very neat with no overhang at all, am looking to increase to 225 in fact now. At the rear was on 225/40/18s on 7.5" , went up to 235 last year, again no probs tho' I wouldnt want to go much beyond that. Perform excellently including one unexpectedly successful sprint debut (wet and dry). i recon you might get away with 235 on 7" tho' in sure that comfortably more than recommended and you would see a bit of sidewall bulge which looks a bit chav. Problem if with too wide a trye is that the tread starts to be pulled into a convex shape (bulging in the centre) which creates uneven wear / heat and reduced tyre performance, also the tyre may become relatively unstable laterally on the rim which can be pretty unnerving.

For me, to put 225s on 7" rims would conjure up some pretty hefty safety concerns.

In a Tiv, you just can't take the view when choosing kit that 'you'll probably get away with it'. Even in standard guise, the car can bite when you least expect it - so why take the risk of giving it a few more teeth?

Any significant lateral movement of the tyre across the rim while going around a corner on a public road does not strike me as being a particularly good thing.

Just my $0.2...

out of interest as im lookin for new alloys....what offset do your new alloys have and did it cause any problems if u havent got the standard offset,ta rob

....Was that a Bridgestone $0.2....?

As I say my T1-Ss 215/40/17 on 7" rims perform extremely well and have worn very evenly (now due for replacement). An extra 5mm width on each side would barely put the sidewall proud of the rim. I'll post some pics, but to get an idea see my profile. I accept the principle of all that you've said but I'm not convinced that this is so excessive as to affect tyre performance in this example.
