Greetings gents,
just 'gone to the darkside' & got myself a 93 chimaera for resto, own a S1 so im no stranger to TVR's.
I was wondering if someone could help me out, i noticed the dash warning covers & a few switches on the dash are missing, just wondering what switches they are/where to source them.
cheers

Steve

Yes, that looks right, there is also a Leven upgrade in ally, you could speak to Paul at Prestige Performance Cars, Melton Mobray, I`m sure he still deals in Leven kit.

Not too sure, I had a Griff a few years ago with all Leven switchgear, I never really investigated them much at the time. My Chim has the standard switches, yes they are a bit plain but ok, plenty of other things to worry about before thatsmile

cheers, yeah i think getting it running after its been dry stored for 5 years is the main priority & of course them darn outriggers, so may be a body off like ive done with my 'S'

Paul at PPS will do outriggers with the body on, not had to have it done but he has showed me his work, the quality is spot on. I have been using Racing Green or RT Racing in Sheffield for parts, not always the cheapest but reliable and usually well stocked.

yeah ive heard good things about RT racing bit far from me in Birmingham tho, for my 'S' ive always gone to Tony at TJ auto's in Coventry & couldn't be more happy with the communication & quality of work on the rebuild, really knows his stuff.

Will do the same again for the chim chassis

Welcome to the Gang, you'll feel the wheels are weak compared to the S, no air scoop hurts, but other than that the Chims are nearly as good hehe

Nice one, haha oh I still got my 'S' too wink
Wheels are weak? Is that because of the thinner tyre.. So what have I got to look out for then, any infamous overheating?

Sorry when I say weak,, as in they don't look half as good. smile
I had a quick look at your profile pic and saw the Oz 8 spoke thumbup

Great to hear you still have the S.
If I had the money I'd have an S to rattle around town in and the Chim when you want to stretch your legs a bit more.
S cars rock. wink

Thanks, seems a crime to change the ol 'oz 8 spokes' just wish they were 16" frown
The esoteril rims are nice tho, do you have them?

Hoping the chim is more of an investment for the future but your right the 'S' does rock, love it so much I've had body off resto & upgrades galore smile

A friend of mine has a 400 he bought about 6 years ago for £6800, he has 2 kids so wasn`t using it much so got a Jag XKR. A dealer offered him 8.5k for his Chim, he realised that the original investment in the bank would have made around £420, so he is keeping it.
So it`s official, Chimaeras are BETTER THAN MONEY IN THE BANK.

Having said that so are Maestro`s & Montego`s

Nice! I think with TVR reopening there factory, the value of our TVR's should steadily rise.. Hopefully they protect the chassis better on the new model laugh

Is this the Chimaera that was on EBay? Does the car require much work from what was on the advert? It looked to be a potential good buy!

Hi, yes thats the one, was hoping to get it for under 5k to be honest.. It starts up fine, just missing fanbelt, few switches on interior, good clean up & the infamous outriggers rusty.. im thinking to do a body off to have it 100% solid for the future like i did with my 'S'

I thought so, I did put a bid in early on, depending how much you spend, you could have yourself a very solid 400 for sensible money!

Thank you, I think its worth the investment, price is rising on TVR's in general. The hood obviously needs replacing & well laugh the flying 70mph targa panel off the back of the trailer is going to cost me few hundred
