Just got round to trying the new engine for a first time start.

Went to start it and a massive missfire.

Now i can not find the black cover that attaches to the end of the plenum pipework to air filter box.

I have searched in all the gardens on the street.
I have looked for over an hour, even looked on the roof of the house,
the force of the explosion was enough to rip the pipework in two
Why me !!!!!!

I'm guessing the plugleads were in the wrong order..? or is it that classic 2.8 back ignition thing..?

If its a 2.8 I have a box of bits that might have the bit in it.. not exactly sure waht you are after as the plenum pipe runs to the bit at the top of the Air Senser surely ..

I`ve just done exactly the same, put the engine back in turned it over massive back fire blew the air pipe off rattled a few windows,I am 99% sure your timing is 180 deg out,get N0 1 piston at TDC with timing mark on crank about 12 deg on pulley then locate distributer in the drive with rotor arm about 2oclock looking from nearside that should do it,hope this is of help.
