My SEAC refurb part 1.
Discussion
Hi
Following a request from Dave Superwedge here are a few pics (63) of my recent refurb of my 450SEAC.
It started because I had an engine problem with the engine originating from the engine rebuild done 7,000 mile ago. We rebuilt the engine and started to clean the engine compartment and then decided to take the body off and do a chassis refurb etc. I have broken this up into a number of threads.
Engine partly stripped pending removal in Sept 2015.

Parts removed.

Engine being removed.

Engine being stripped.

Pistons.

Piston cleaned.

Damaged oil pump housing.

The part which caused all the trouble.

The below is a brief description of what happened.
The car had suffered with a low oil pressure problem for a number of years and in the 90's the engine was removed to resolve the problem. The owner at that time had a fit didn't what or could not pay. After a period the car was pushed outside the garage and the roof collapsed the interior was ruined. The Owner and garage went to court, both lost as the garage had to redo the interior and the owner had to pay for the engine rebuild. It now appears that the garage threw the engine together and charged the earth and the car was given back. The owner sold it and Wayne purchased it a couple of years later and I purchased it from Wayne with only 5,000 on the engine since the rebuild. The garage had not cleaned the oil system out and we found the remains of a seal spring in the sump and the engine still had all of them when we stripped it! The spring had damaged the oil pump and the housing, which also included the engines front cover, plus the crank was also damaged. So the crank was sorted, a replacement front cover was found, the oil pump was refurbished and new gears fitted. New bearings for the crank and cam shaft were fitted, I was lucky the cam shaft and the piston were like new.
Engine during rebuild Nov 2015.

Once the engine was rebuilt we started to clean the engine compartment and decided to take the body off and do a complete refurb of the chassis and transmission at the end of Nov 2015
So I made a body trolly from two body dolly's and some box section.

Prepping the car for the body lift on Sunday the 29th of November 2015.

The front arangements for lifting the body, using my engine crane.

The rear arangements using my 4 poster ramp.

We had a piece of 4 x 2 across the front of the car attached to my engine crane and the rear was attached with ratchet straps to another 4 x 2 under the rear and they were attached to my 4 poster ramp. The body came strait up with just a brief stop for the top fuel bal pipe to be removed.
The body on the body trolly.

The body ready to go to the body shop.

The chassis back in my workshop/garage.

The view from underneath the chassis.

The front of the chassis.

The diff and carrier.

The view of the chassis from the front.

The SEAC's rose jointed front suspension.

The rear view of the chassis stripped.

The chassis stripped and ready to go for blasting and powder coating.

The chassis when stripped and cleaned was take to a firm nr Kettering to be blasted and re powder coating, there were two areas I was worried about and they were in the front of the chassis the rest was OK with some corrosion but none to cause concern.
The chassis was blasted over the Christmas period of 2015. It was collected all done at the first week of Jan 2016.
While the chassis was being done the gearbox and diff were being overhauled by A1 Gearbox's St Neots, and I collected them on Christmas eve which meant I had something to paint over Christmas.
Part two will follow shortly.
