Just a bit of info.

I'm sure it was asked on here before about the old Circuito Hermanos Ricardo y Pedro Rodriguez in Mexico, after seeing it used for CART, they used an infield section cutting though a baseball ground and missing out the banked Peraltada corner. Famous in recent years for Nigel Mansell's overtake around the outside of Berger on the penultimate lap but used since the 1960's as a GP venue up until 1992. I wondered if the old corner still existed or whether it now lay under a few thousand tons of concrete.

Well it's still there, the stadium built on the infield at that point has a curved back to it that follows the curve of the corner, the full track with the Peraltada can still be used.

I remember seeing Senna have a monumental off at Peraltada, in, I think '90 or '91.

At the time there was a b@stard of a camber change in the middle of the corner. IIRC, Senna changed up a gear at exactly the right (or wrong) moment to hit the camber change, got pitched violently to the left, and I think rolled the McLaren.

Great name for a circuit aswell!

Yep it was 1991. During free practice, Senna was trying to beat the Williams pair to quickest time. He decided having run wide through the esses, to try and take the Peraltda in 6th gear. Mid way through the coner thinks were looking pear shaped, so he changed down to 5th, this unsettled the car spun him off the track impacted the barrier and rolled over.

I always thought it was a great track, with such a long straight there was some great banzai moves into the 1st corner.

Sounds so much better in Spanish, though.

"Circuito Hermanos Ricardo y Pedro Rodriguez"

"Richard and Peter Rodgers Brothers' Circuit"

Ten weeks of evening class last year....
