I was driving along a local road last night (30MPH limit) at an indicated 30MPH (Honestly) passed a GATSO which has been there for several years and I'm very careful of my speed around, which duly gave me the double flash.
Now I was the only car travelling in the direction for a rear flash although another car had just passed the gatso in the other direction and it did seem to be above the limit.
So the question is: What caused the damned thing to flash and what are the chances of getting NIPed for not actually breaking the limit?

If you were inside the limit the photo that was taken will not be used.

Its likely that the car in the other carriageway set it off as the one at the foot of the elevated section of the M4 is always being set off by cars accelerating down the other side.

No photo was taken as the other car triggered it.

Agree with advice given so far, exactly this happened to me about 7/8 years ago. Equally have been flashed approaching a Gatso face on, triggered by an overtaking m/bike.

In both cases never heard anything but just in case later that day "nipped" over (pun quite intentional ) to one of the measured miles used by local traffic dept to check speedo accuracy. Made some runs noted details in book. Bob's yer uncle.

Since the 2 flashes would produce photos showing your car at 2 different positions in relation to the white marks on the road, then if you were going at 30mph then the photos will prove that you were not speeding.
