Ive just got my self a new mobile. I remember the days when the manual said to charge it for 15 or so hours the 1st time. now i dont see that any more. is it still necessary to do so with modern batteries?
I notice that a lot of them still say that the initial charge can take up to 15 hours, then fully discharge it and re-charge again. After that top up charging and fast charging etc are then OK. I think initially interrupting the 1st few charges, or topping up the charge before fully discharged is a bad thing. I dont know why, but it may well be in the phones manual.
No need to now. Modern stuff have lithium ion batteries that know when they're charged. Old ones had nickel metal hydride (i think (NiMH)) which could only be charged in one big go or they'd stop working.
Its a relic of multi-cell Nicad batteries. Just charge it until its full, and bob's your uncle.

Be careful!
I am doing a trial on a phone with a lithium polymer battery. It must never be on charge for more than a couple of hours! I killed my first trial phone by giving it a good 4 hours plugged in.
Read the manual very carefully!
