Just had a police statement taken RE : Rattery
Discussion
WPC just came round and took all the details.
Very impressed with the whole thing. She was very detailed in taking down the information, never missed anything and was very polite and professional with it at the same time.
I managed to give a good indication of what happened and my evidence tallied up with everyone elses (always a worry that the mind is making up bits to fill in the gaps)
It would seem that the 54 year old man who was thrown from the car (the man who i saw lying in the central reservation) was travelling with 2 others to get to work. The driver had travelled that road every day and had basically lost control at rattery and stacked it. It is the driver of the car that is being prosecuted for causing death by dangerous driving by the looks of it. As I thought there were no other cars involved.
Can I also point out that there was no mention of SPEEDING and it looks like he lost control of the vehicle under the speed limit at this time.
That is a blob of a piece of road so he may have been travelling too fast for the conditions at the time, but he would probably not have been caused by our lifesavers and grace, the Safety Camera Partnership.
I cant comment on the standard of his driving or the overall circumstances as I only saw a small part of the picture, but I hope whatever result comes from this gives some peace and hope to the family and friends of the dead man.
