Why no Motorhomes on PCP?
Discussion
With the residuals of many motorhomes seemingly being so high, (not uncommon to see only 25% depreciation over 3 years), why don't manufacturers and finance companies offer PCPs on them? If the residuals can vary widely due to the way the vehicle is used, so be it, but you'd think they could factor such issues into the GFVs?
Will motorhome ownership go this way in the future, seemingly as it has for cars, or is the demographic for motorhome ownership such that they don't need such finance options?
Anyone tried a lease purchase on a motorhome? Are the balloons realistic compared to trade in of the vehicle at the end, or are they way off?

I haven't looked at this too closely but have heard that the mileage limits are v low: like 8000 miles in 3 years.http://www.blackhorse.co.uk/Caravan/UltimateMH.htm...

Not an issue to most motorhomers.
Too true; sad; and strange though given the amount of investment that can go into buying one. Sad as well but GREAT for the 2nd hand market buyers: get a nearly new MH with sod all mileage and all the niggles that come with buying from new, sorted by previous owners We use ours every other weekend throughout all the year plus weeks/fortnights away in school holidays and a month long trip in the summer. We bought ours in June 2015 with 11k miles on it (3 years old) and have put 9k of our own miles on it in 14 months
Loved every minute of it too

But they don't like the idea of a caravan, or they think motorhomes are cool. So they spend £50k+ on one and use them twice a year. Nuts!

Starting to look at motorhomes as you can't get too many motorbikes in a caravan, but motorhome and enclosed bike trailer
We had two motorhomes, living in the SW we did very little mileage despite regular use.
Time constraints of running our own Company meant we only ever had short breaks, hence we rarely strayed more than an hour or two from home (some stunning locations within easy reach for us).
I guess if you're going into Europe or exploring this country then mileage will leap up but for many who just drive to site & stay there they enjoy the van without racking up large mileage.

Totally with you on this one. We hired a motor-home for a holiday 3 years ago only to find out that we couldn't put the kids in the back (yes I know, should've checked) due to their age. Already coughed up for the motor-home but had to take the car too. Thank god we did!!! What an effin' faff they are to get about in. Find a nice little beach somewhere? Can't access it! Take a wrong turn down a narrow lane? Can't reverse it! Can't park in towns, or limited at least. Have to de-rig to go anywhere. Caravan much more practical and less compromised. More space and one set up all week unless you are touring. No brainer for me and the lady of the house has almost convinced me to buy a caravan. I am fighting it though!!
Admittedly we only used ours for 1-4 nights but we'd find a site that was within walking distance of a town or had a bus stop so we didn't have to move the man during our stay, added bonus was no arguing over who was going to drink & who had to drive! There's a reason you see MH's towing little cars or have mopeds on the back I guess.

Getting back on topic about why no PCP for Motorhomes? The winner of this year's Caravan Tourer of the year awards 2017 is Black horse pcp.
Cut and Paste from the show's flyer:

I've never really got my head around why caravaners come up with this? It's not like a car 5m car, towing a 6-7m Caravan would fair any better doing a U-turn on a narrow country road. I've also seen my fair share of caravans which can't get down narrow lanes.Trophy Husband said:

This might be the case in the UK, but for us in France and Germany, we can get to just as many places, even in town centres & villages, that Caravans can. And can then overnight there when we fancy a meal out or couple of Drinks in the Pub without having to navigate back to a proper campsite.Again, horses for courses and OT as far as this thread is concerned. But I don't understand the reason for so much hate vs. motorhomes.

Most motorhomers don't like to admit that a caravan would probably suit their needs, and their wallets, much more than an actual motorhome.

That's my mum and dad, that is. They've got a beautiful Fendt caravan (aircon, underfloor heating, seriously high quality van) but in 2013 they went and got a Hobby motorhome and haven't used the caravan since and I'm not exactly sure why. They also still have a 4.2 litre Landcruiser that has not been properly used since they got the motorhome. But they don't like the idea of a caravan, or they think motorhomes are cool. (They won't let me borrow the caravan either (their property, I know), the reason being that I "will vomit in it" and my friends will come round and have "axe throwing competitions". I'm a 48 year old IT professional and I have never vomited anywhere unless actually poorly. I don't know any hells angels).
