Sorry if this has already been asked (did a search and didn't find anything recent), but is there a technical reason behind the 2MB limit on photo uploads?

My digital camera (on standard setting) produces pics at about 4MB, and my Iphone mostly just over 2MB.

I'm at events nearly every weekend, and have some great photos (and probably loads of crap ones!) but I'm constantly hitting the "too big" limit.

If it's a Thumbsnap limit I can understand that PH probably can't do anything, but other web sites I use don't seem to have a problem.

I'm sure (I hope) that this would be a feature many members would appreciate. smile

Hi sunbeam alpine,

Thanks for your feedback. This is unfortunately a Thumbsnap limit.

I agree that many members would appreciate the ability to upload larger images and we will look to increase this limit in the future.

Thanks,
Dom

Thanks for the fast response!

Will try to learn how to resize photos in the meantime.

(Currently get my wife to do it) smile

You can get perfectly acceptable smaller resolution pics if the camera has a good lens. Some pictures from some cameras/phones look better if theyre half scaled as the camera sensor isnt really up to the headline resolution anyway
Why not just have automatic resizer on the photo uploader to something like 1024x 768 max?

I don't tend to post pictures from my camera but I've never had one rejected due to oversize from my iPhone or iPad?

because that resolution is stupidly small, its not 2002 anymore

theres a lot of other image hosts out there that will accommodate your files easily, and wont slap a stupid watermark on it. just wrap it in your own [pic] tags and you're done
