Hi

I have a Vango self inflating mattress, I've been really impressed with it but it now seems to have a leak and needs to be refilled during the night. Has anyone had a go at repairing one, any tips?

I tried repairing my Vango self-inflating mattress in Spain some years ago after it sprang a leak.

I used the repair kit, cleaned the area and did it all correctly, or as correctly as I believed I had. It leaked.

I used progressively larger patches of duct tape to assist over the repair patch. It leaked.

I binned the mattress.

The above was just my own experience. No doubt others would have had greater success than I.

only successfully repaired one once. but didnt last long. Mine always seem to go where the valve is - the little triangle formed by the valve and matt material parting around the valve.

Have look at the Self-inflating mats on Obelink.nl (better selection than the uk site) We've had these for a several years. Mine is a the SI 10XL comfort = huge. but very comfortable. and the non-slip upper means i dont slide off like i did on some other mats when camping on uneven ground.

I've had the same - a good silicone sealant (I used aquarium sealant) did the trick.

Have also used repair patches on other SIM's, the only one I couldn't repair was where it started leaking through the stitches/seams.
