I am sure some of you will have this feeling when it comes to whether to sell or not, especially its taken such a long time to find the correct Gallardo.

I am not sure if people will spend that kind of money to buy privately? How likely does that happen? I do not mind the advertising fee but just do not want to be hassled by time wasters thats all.

I am reluctant to selling back to dealers / reputable traders (without px) who are going to be adding a very decent margin on top. No matter if Gallardo appreciates, I do not think I will ever break even when buying high at dealer price and selling low back to them..

I have never done a sale or return, how does that work?

Any info is appreciated

Regards

I would say it doesn't put all off selling privately as you end up paying for a warranty from a dealer anyway, they only have to offer you a 4 month or 1000 mile warranty which ever comes first. A sale or return option means you are giving the dealer roughly 5k plus vat to advertise the car and sell it for you. If you do t want the hassle then go this route as it is very simple and you will get more options with people wanting finance or px. If you are confident you can sell the car just be very clear in your advertising on your price and state you don't want dealers calling you or daydreamers. I've gone both ways in the past and sold cars up to £40k privately no hassle but if it's a £100k + car it might be best being at a known and respected dealer to get you the best offer and in a more timely manner.

yes, back in the day i could sell a car privately for upto 40k but yes we are talking about over 100k car here thats why I never thought I could do with selling it private, I mostly certainly will be very cautious about it if I were to spend that to a private seller so without the me not trusting them and they don;t trust me scenario, I cannot see it work unless I sell to trade taking a pinch of a big loss.

I never know you can buy a Lamborghini warranty privately through the dealership, or can we?

In the main buyers are wiling to pay more to buy a car from a reputable dealer than from a private person
- perhaps less than 10% but more.

I explored selling my McLaren, AB is a very highly recognised McLaren specialist , he wants £4k (inc VAT) to sell it (less than 3% of its value), ..when I did the man maths the reality is I will get more money via the SOR route than trying to sell direct....

Just my 2p, not sure if in the world of Lambos there is such a well recognised dealer (in the case of Porsche the equivalent would be JZ, 911Virgin etc etc...

There is the show at sharnbrook hotel on Sunday... Google it

Advertise on pH, got timewasters from auto trader...

Set the price, give max detail in the ad.. servicing date and mileage etc... if anyone calls and says does it have a service history, hang up...
