A little bit of advice please.

There is a guy local to me selling his SL55AMG F1,and I am interested in buying it. I am unsure it's an F1, is it possible to see a difference, is it badged differently or has a unique visual feature that is difficult to replicate and easy to spot.

You need to check the options codes listed in service book - the F1 pack is code 030. Main visual difference is vents on side of front bumper

The F1 pack gives you a limited slip dif, more power, larger alloys, Floating disk brakes, uprated engine cooling system, revised bumpers, darker tail lights, removal of the speed restricter

Just to clarify, these options are the Performance Pack. The F1 thing was never a name MB used.
They were used as F1 pace cars for a while so presumably that's where it came from.

Easiest to spot are the 19s filled with massive front brakes.
Pretty tough to fake would be the twin oil coolers instead of 1. But I haven't got a clue how easy they are to see.

But as mentioned you really want to check the VIN to make sure 030 is in the options. You can obtain the VIN options list online from unofficial sources - or could when I was shopping around.
