Has any one fitted a small light weight alternator 65 - 75 amp to a 5lts V8. If so any suggestions , I was told some one had fitted a Komatsu digger one with no problems.

Apparently it is a Kubota mini digger type alternator.

Not the saying, but similar.

I look forward to seeing one of these on a car.

I have just spoken to my local digger supplier and all the digger alternators will be 40 amp so i'm barking up the wrong tree with that idea. Nippon Denso is another in the mix will check that line of thought out.

I am sure that Simon said that 40amp would be plenty for a racer.

I have to run ignition , three fuel pumps and lights for 40 mins. I really don't think 40 amps will cut it. I could go LED for rear lights as the rain light would be on. but I need to leave the mini head lamps in. If I start having to change to LED I might as well just go for a bigger out put and bigger price.

I am hoping 60A will be OK now! eek

A few people I know highly recommended the Brise unit so hopefully it will be a good purchase. Having said that mine is still running the original factory OEM unit with no issues.

Ah, but if you can save a kilo in the engine bay, that's an extra Essex breakfast you can enjoy whistle
