On my way to work this morning driving along the A60 to Nottingham, just coming out of Bunny where it's 30mph before changing to 40mph there was a mobile van parked on the bend facing me, I was doing 33-35mph according to my needles but as usual I'm now shi**ing myself wondering if I've been zapped.

Would I have seen the flash if so? Because I didn't, and I'm also aware that car speedos usually overstate the actual mph you're doing so if my needle was indeed on 34mph I was probably only doing 30mph?

Any reassurance would be appreciated here lol.

Cheers lads!

No they don't flash. Only way to be sure is wait 14 days and see if you get a letter. Doesn't sound like you will though.

Car speedometers around thirty are quite accurate.

You might just got away with it I reckon they flash around 34/35.Depends how much they want your money.

You'll get the cash generator course rather than the points at that speed

Guidance is you won't hear anything until a true 35 - but they don't have to follow that. If they're running low on speed awareness course attendees in the run up to Christmas then you might get called in.

...I don't think there's nothing to stop them doing that. The device tolerance is 2MPH.

I'd be worried if the speedo was showing closer to 40mph, chances are your real speed was no more than 33mph so fine. There is plenty of talk about being done below 35, but no one has posted evidence afaik.

Only 14 days? I thought they had 14 days to send it but 6 months for it to arrive?

Must be served within 14 days of alleged offence, 6 months is court.

It needs to be posted in such time that, in the normal course of post, the notice would be delivered within 14 days of the alleged offence.

For 1st class mail, the 'normal course of post' is deemed to be two business days.

Posting in good time (by 1st class mail) creates a presumption that valid service will be / has been effected. This presumption can be rebutted through the production of evidence which confirms the notice was not delivered or was served out of time.

Hang your head in shame, you could of killed a rabbit that hangs about just before the 40 zone, or was that a slag in a camera van...

Our local newspaper ran an article about the number of drivers caught in speed traps in the the area last month. It appears that anybody doing under 37 in a 30 limit was OK.

Don't think we should argue with that.

That might have been "proper" police not wanting to upset the locals too much - generally the guidance is followed and you'll get done at true 35.
