Maybe they will be selling those bikes in the new brand shop in Mayfair ? smile

Ferrari have been making more money of brand stuff for years, no harm in Aston doing the same....just as long it really is premium luxury goods they are associated with and not just any old tat wink

Andy Palmer is certainly keeping busy. I am not informed enough to know if this shop is a good idea, but it's interesting.

I'd hazard a guess that it will not make a decent net profit even after a few years trading , saying that I think that AM will use it for brand advertising , product placement firstly and not be too worried about not making a profit on the retail side.

Saying that they need to take a look at the stock availability on their website , that's pretty poor to be honest , a few things I've looked at buying recently have been out of stock.

My understanding is Bez outsourced the merchandising, which is why you can buy loads of toy Astons these days, compared to very few a few years back.

They also have their own boutique, at the 'ring. But, to be fair they have always sold some questionnable items: leather boxer shorts in the late 90s, Aston shell suit in the early 90s (I have one...), Nylon race jackets in the 80s etc etc (I have a Nimrod and AMR1, both in genuine 100% British Nylon)

Partnership with Hackett on clothes and JLC on watches. No idea how profitable they might be!

Doubt that the shop is there for profit. On Dover Street, it must easily cost them £500k a year; they'd have to sell a few million £s worth of stuff to break even, which isn't going to happen.

The store on Dover Street is in my opinion very poor. Unless you are local not worth a visit! The fit out/workmanship does not in anyway come up to the standard of the brand. Shoddy in places.

Aston stuff worth looking at. Yu might see the odd car from time to time. Seen a DB5 in there, and a Vanquish

Might hold the attention of a car enthusiast for two or three minutes, maybe less

Don't bother is my advice

I find the whole thing poorly conceived

They really don't seem to have an overall direction for the AML partnerships - some seem pie in the sky never going to happen, some are cheap tat with an AML logo on, some are expensive items which don't have any synergy with the brand, etc

And I'm not really sure where the new shop's turnover (of any significance) is going to come from - are people really going to buy there AML boat from that site ? And if you walked in (as AML's marketing suggests you can) to 'spec a Q car', I can't imagine you'd get very far.

Seems something of a vanity project but what do I know
