Why is it when i block the air supply to the plenum and hold and block the breather pipe the engine runs much more smooth and far more quiet .

The catch tank had three inch of water and oil in the bottom .

Would it work better if I just left the catch tank in and ran a pipe under the engine with a small filter .

Has it stopped?

(Just asking to be sure - seems to have been a day for customers missing the downright bloody obvious at work today... hehe )

I'm guessing you don't mean the air supply to the plenum. Your engine would stop!

The breather pipe splits on a tee piece.

If I disconnect the very small hose and seal the plenum by putting my finger on it then it idles much smoother .Why does it split both sides .

I wish someone would tell me what function that pipe performs, it has never made any sense to me. The rocker cover breather to the throttle body is obvious but why does it need two routes into combustion air chamber

Look up positive crankcase ventilation PCV systems Bob, Daz your idle improves because when you crimp that hose you richen the idle mixture a tad

No, but then its also pointless running the idle richer than necessary your just wasting fuel
