French speed cameras
Discussion
I got flashed by a speed camera whilst driving a UK registered car in France last week. It will be interesting to see if I get anything through the post.
I’ve heard lots of talk on this but has anyone on here actually got points on their UK license for speeding in France yet?
Edit: I mean points from a camera shot rather than being stopped by Monsieur Plod and given an on the spot fine. I know loads of us have had that one.

They're not organised yet. No points, and you'll never hear of it again as far as I know. For the moment, you're OK in France in a UK car unless actually pulled by les gendarmes - long may it last, though the europlod movement is gathering force.

Same thing happened to me in Switzerland last August.
Can't imagine I will hear from them, but what if I were to return in the same vehicle and get stopped? Do they keep a record of 'most wanted'
And the French will send you stuff if they know who you are, I got nicked for speeding there - paid the on-the-spot fine and came home. A few months later I received a demand from the French court for another £20.
which I dealt with appropriately

Could be fine x 2 for repeat offence.

I think the on-the-spot fine can be considered as a 'first installment' in cases that would be refered to the courts.
Watch the Swiss though, I got done there by a camera with a rented car (Rented car means usually that your are immune).
I did 93 kmh in a 90 zone - like I was hardly a big fish in terms of breaking the law.
They did go to Hertz to get my adress in Ireland (Never happened in any other country I drove), and for a year or so I received official letters in German asking me to pay 80 Swiss Franc.
I superbly ignored it naturally
I expecting a Swiss swat team to break in my house in Ireland every evening......

I have heard that the Swiss will track you down next time you visit their country but it may be just a story - wouldn't put it past them though

Interesting item on the TV news this week.
It would appear that installing 'radar fixe' in a country where hunters still carry large bore rifles has resulted in the inevitable..
They have started the unsporting practice of using them for target practice
One in Normandy has been 'decommissioned' 8 times so far. I dont know what the range was but both lenses, dead centre with something that would have stopped a wild boar dead.
Only leaves one question:
Did the camera flash the bullet?
