996 turbo query

quick query:

can you plse tell me which year the modifications/changes were made to the original 996 turbo that bring it up to the most recent version?

Is there a specific change you are querying?


M/Y 2002 ie delivery sept 2001 was when the 996 range was changed to have the 3.6 engine and similar headlights etc to the turbo.

At this time on the turbo there were a few minor changes, things such as the boot/bonnet releases changed to small plastic buttons operating motors rather than the large silver pully things you had before.

In the UK for M/Y 2003 ie sept 2002 delivery onwards the navigation TV screen thing was fitted as standard on turbos. Also in this period Porsche switched the stereo cable to something called MOST, which just makes it a PITA to change stereos on any boxster/911. At some time in 2004 Porsche stopped supplying turbos and only supplied Turbo S (ie turbo + power upgrade plus PCCB). I don't know if this coincided with a model year change.

You may need to confirm this with Porsche or on the internet somewhere, but I think it was MY02 cars onwards.
They added a self dipping mirror as standard & also rain sensitive wipers were added, previously options I believe. Also a glove box was added.
The most important things - ie the engine & suspension havn't been altered, as far as I know.

993 turbo spoiler, fixed.

All 996 turbo spoilers, raise electically according to speed. The excpetion are those fitted with the optional spoiler kits.
