Apart from the Tuscan R, anyone heard about "a new car" possibly to be seen for the first time at the Motorshow ???????

A new car is being worked on but TVR are doing a better job these days on keeping the lid on things. Two designers have been locked away in a shed from what I can gather and a new design will be forthcoming at the motor show. Various rumours as to what it is are doing the rounds but I don't have any hard evidence yet.

Personally I would expect (this is pure speculation on my part) another Speed 6 powered machine possibly built with motorsport in mind again. Perhaps something more attuned to Le Mans regulations...?

tvr always have a "new car" at the motor show, it helps with publicity and brings in the punters. weather it is any where near production is another thing.

In reality it will probably be (I reckon in my opinion) a cerbera speed six chassis with a new style body and a targa top 2+2.

what do you guys think?

They've started particularly early this year which may mean that it's a little closer than previous years' cars which are normally really just concept cars.

There's talk of a gull wing style variation on the theme. Perhaps that's to stop the door opening problems they keep having in GT races

When I was at the Nurburgring in May, there was a disguised car driving around the area (I saw it drive past our hotel whilst having breakfast). I was told it was supposed to be the new TVR by a freelance Journo we met, whether it was or not, I don't know. It was about Elise-sized and covered in gaffer tape

Whatever it is, I expect they'll make two of them, then get bored with it, change their minds and put them on a rubbish tip. Wouldn't it be nice if they could concentrate on fewer designs and make them better?

Don't know why but I've a feeling it might be powered by a Ford V6.

Naw, not disguised - that will be the finished model - judging by mine and the fact that it is stuck together with black sealant!!!

Cheers,

Paul

Unlikely, TVR do most of their testing on the roads around Blackpool.

Its gonna be an evolution of the Chimaera obviously, introducing the AJP engines as originally intended. Makes sense to continue in the vein of the most popular TVR to date, cos no company will survive if it doesn't pull in the readies.

This is pure conjecture and guesswork, not the result of insider info or 'special' contacts.

Yeah, that's what I thought, I only mentioned it to fuel speculation . It's possible the Journo said it because he saw my Griff, and thought he'd wind me up. Of course if they did develop the cars at the Ring, there's a chance mine would've ridden the bumps better last weekend

Just to keep things on track, it's likely to be in the Cerbera/Tuscan mould with the straight six engine as racing is what's tickly PW's fancy these days and the AJP isn't the optimum engine for racing.

Remember, TVR aren't driven by pure business reason, they're one of the few companies that still do things because they want to, not because they need to or should.

Mhh, a new car to comply with the FIA rules for the one in June in France ? Sounds brilliant...

If anything I must say I find this somewhat worrying... I know PW's pockets are significantly deeper than mine, but ultimately all companies need customers. Racing is only a - rather expensive - mean not an end, and all companies which have tried to ignore this have ended up in the wall.

My view is that TVR should really concentrate on improving quality and customer service first. That a small, focused team can put together a Le Mans winning car does not necessarily mean TVRs quality is going to improve.

Yes and customers are buying TVRs for 43 years now.

"improving quality "
Building a Porsche you mean?

I understand what you mean rthierry and it sounds reasonnable: but don't we need to dream?
Don't you dream ,as a TVR maniac,of a Tuscan R (or X?) finishing the "24 heures du Mans 2003"
I'm ready to share the risk of R&D and quality with TVR to have the "privilege" of driving an authentic sport car at a decent price and to their results in motor racing!

How about a diesel red rose Tuscan R - the Tuscan RDRR - say it fast, it'll make you laugh!
