I noticed the amount of games coming out for it are reducing, I don't play old games and the PlayTV facility is redundant, so should it be ditched?

If you're wanting to play new games then yes, very few AAA titles are being released on the last gen consoles now and they're crippled compared to their current gen versions.

Mine is now primarily used as a BD player for the TV in my bedroom; I only ever bought it to play Last of Us which I now have for PS4 anyway. Pretty good as a DVD player mind and all the apps on it still work...

The big three are all about to release their mid cycle updates to the latest gen I think it very optimistic to think that any new titles will be released on the PS3/360/Wii consoles.

yes

Lack of titles has forced me to finally upgrade my console. Also having now seen Fifa 16 on my mates XBOne vs my 360 its a different game, I feel ripped off having paid £40 for seemingly half a game if that

I'll give you £5 for it.

More seriously yes and no, if you are after child friendly games then there is still a bit of life left in it, ours pretty much belongs to my 6yo now and considering buying another second hand one (as even with a big bunch of games they are dirt cheap) for the other room to avoid arguments between the two children. Even so it's not going to be long before there are none of the decent new games released and little more than re-hashes.

I looked at this before and the last game released for the PS2 was in 2014, ie 8 years after the PS3 was released. If you assume the same "life" after the PS4 then you've got until 2021 but the games are going to be few and far between by then.

For AAA though forget it

I've had my PS3 for about 7 years and has never let me down. Got rid of a few games to Music Magpie, and it's main use is Blu Ray nowadays. Not too fussed about the latest consoles as I've built my PC to handle the latest games

I have pretty much the same issue, i have a PS3 and a 360. Both are mighty fine dust collectors. But i just can't part with them!

Using mine as a media viewing device. I use Amazon Prime, iPlayer, 4od, Spotify etc etc and the odd BD/DVD when the mood takes me. PS4 exclusively for games and in a different room.

I've got Kodi and a Youview box, I can't remember the last time I stuck on a bluray.

I have the PS3 and PS4.

I've really enjoyed recently building up a collection of PS3 games. So many great games can be bought for so cheap. Maybe they were over shadowed on their release date due to an available AAA title released at the same time but compared to being a mediocre PS4 game at full price, so £3 purchase from ebay is much more appealing.

I have something like 150 PS3 games now and 35 PS4 games. The money in the PS3 games is probably the same as in only 35 PS4 titles.

So to me, no it isn't redundant, I am really enjoying playing games that I missed the first time round :-)

Cheers
