Hi all,
I know theres been much research saying that theres no link between MMR and autism, but seeing as i've got a autistic cousin, and his brothers son is autistic also i thought i'd double check before putting Zedstar jnr through the MMR.
My cousin with the autistic son has done lots of research, goes to conferences etc and is very much against the MMR, so much so that he vaccinated his daughter (not autisitic) with seperate jabs and told me to do the same. He's also convinced that to some level in a very small amount of children the MMR vaccine brings out the autism. He's a very level headed intelligent guy and not some conspiracy theorist so i'm always inclined to listen at least to what he says. I tried to get the seperate jabs but you can't get seperate mumps now (!) so the options are as follows,
1. Just get the MMR and accept that autism and MMR are non related
2. Get the seperate Measles and Rubelle vaccine and hope for the best i.e. no mumps
3. Get the seperate Measles and Rubelle vaccine and then give him the MMR when hes older
4. Wait another six months until he's 18 months and then maybe make sure hes ok before giving him the MMR?
Does anyone have any opinions on the above?

Both my kids have had the MMR and no sign of anything bad so far. My wife is a therapist that used to work with autistic kids so she knows what to look for. That said the wife reckons I'm a little bit on the "spectrum", probably applies to quite a few in Engineering professions, so I wouldn't be surprised if my kids weren't entirely normal.
Anyway I tend to say go for it and the potential complications from any of the diseases vaccinated against could cause many far worse issues further down the line.

Except he hasn't. He's found some article which agree with his already biased point of view.I know theres been much research saying that theres no link between MMR and autism, but seeing as i've got a autistic cousin, and his brothers son is autistic also i thought i'd double check before putting Zedstar jnr through the MMR.
My cousin with the autistic son has done lots of research,
THERE IS NO LINK BETWEEN AUTISM AND MMR VACCINE.

This follows large scale and powerful prospective and retrospective study and meta-analysis.
Wakefield's Lancet paper was utterly false.
More than false - fraud. This follows large scale and powerful prospective and retrospective study and meta-analysis.

The MMR-Autism study was garbage. It's been totally and utterly discredited:

Separate jabs. Some courts are awarding damages for 'Vaccine damage' which caused encephalopathy and lead to serious injury including symptoms of autism:

Separate immunisations will not in any way protect against the rare complication of encephalitis.
In fact, it may well triple the risk, as there are three time the number of immunisations given (if we want to scaremonger).
And it may well not. To concerned parents it may represent a third of the risk to have the jabs separately. In fact, it may well triple the risk, as there are three time the number of immunisations given (if we want to scaremonger).

MMR is safe and effective.
The court found otherwise."A year and a half later the government conceded the MMR vaccine had indeed caused Ryan's encephalopathy."

Take your argument up with the court.
No treatment is 100% safe for everyone.
But there are rare cases of people reacting badly to pretty much anything.
Even water!

Correct, but it's nothing to do with MMR, really.
There is a growing body of evidence which suggests vaccinations, more so multiple vaccinations, can cause serious injury to the child's brain. I don't for a minute believe, nor did I state, that the MMR vaccine itself directly causes autism.popeyewhite said:

Correction: there is a growing body of unqualified people writing s

No doubt you have the qualifications to make that statement.
