MK7 Golf R compared to MK6 and S3 8P
Discussion
Afternoon,
Been offered a competitively priced MK7 R DSG from mate at main dealer. Not driven an R yet but have heard very good things.
Currently have an 8p S3 manual 2007 car. Taking the hype and obvious excitement of a newer car out of the equation, does anyone have similar experience in terms of real world performance difference? Someone had to mentioned to me that there is 'not much in it' but am struggling to beleive this with a 35hp increase, DSG and on paper 2 seconds quicker to 100mph.
Any thoughts input appreciated.
Cheers
Matt

You will notice a performance improvement between your manual S3 and the DSG Mk7 R. Not just because of the slight power hike (And weight loss) but mainly because there is no let up between gear changes with the DSG. I have just swapped form Mk7 R Manual Hatch to DSG R Estate and wether there is much difference on paper or not it feels noticeably different because of the instant gear changes with the throttle still planted.
