Whilst it's newbie question time, can someone tell me if the folded piece of aluminium at the rear of the car ( above the tail of the exhaust) serves a purpose.
Mine was in the boot when I purchased the car.

If I wanted to buy a new one ( I know it's simple to make) does anyone here make them?

Cheers
Darren

Exhaust is so close to the g.r.p. that it would damage it without a heat shield. There were some nice stainless ones being made with TVR and S lazer cut into them. They are however very simple and your local fabricator should find it very easy to make one in alloy or stainless.

it is a piece of trim that a 10 year old could have made (better) with a knife and fork.

There is a thread on here where a stainless steel trim is available - it only hides the back of the fuel tank cradle.

I shaped a piece of cardboard to form a template and made my own.

It simply closes the gap and covers the rubber support pads where the boot floor is bolted to the tank subframe.

As to whether they are available, I seem to recall somebody on the forums made some in stainless with a laser cut logo but cannot for the life of me remember who.
Sorry I can't be more help,
Carl.

ETA- Too slow.
