I have a FFRR vogue SE and it been on the Pirelli Scorpion Zeros on 20'inch wheels - so 255x50/20

Need some new tyres and as I do a fair bit on motorways and the rest sliding around off road on shoots wondered if there was a better option

I assume my issue is the wheel size - can't get most AT tyres unless I drop to an 18 or 19 inch wheel

What would folk recommend - run smaller wheels during the season or just stick with the Scorpions (or some other all rounder) on the 20 inch wheels ??

I've been running Nexen Roadians on mine. Very pleased and on my second set.

They are quiet on road and seem to wear well. My off road use is limited but they seem no better or worse than anything else. They are cheap too.

Pirelli Scorpions are rated highly by many Range Rover owners on FFRR.com; myself included.

I've heard good things about Nexen tyres, too, but have no personal experience of them.

I've tried Continental's and once Yokohama. I always returned to Pirelli's for a combination of better on road feel/grip particularly in the wet, and longevity.

For a good all-rounder, you might as well stick with Pirelli.

Thanks - the site suggested above led me to the option of the General Grabber ATs (manufactured it seems by Continental) which fit the 8.5x20 wheels as they do a 275x45x20 tyre

I will give them a go and see how they perform

Thanks for the responses

I put a set of Toyo's on mine having used the brand previously on different TVR's and was pleasantly surprised given the performance and cost.

I've got a set of rims fitted with ATs for my RRS. (275/45/20 on the RRS)
Obviously they're not a full on mud plugging tyre, but they're perfectly adequate for the off road use you'll be doing. You do notice that they're an aggressive tread (compared with a road tyre) when on the motorway but it's not horrendous. It's a good compromise.

Same on my 2006 Supercharger. Fine in both wet and dry on the tarmac. No clue what they're like off road as it doesn't; off road that is.

Best thing they were £102, inc delivery per corner from Black Circles. That was last August so probably gone up since but still very reasonable, for a good tyre, in comparison to the so called premium makes.

Ive been running Michelin Latitude Diamaris for 3 sets now on my old FFRR and last 4 years on a RRS. I do about 20K miles a year and get about 40K miles out of them. Great all round, although the worse conditions they get is a few inch of light snow or a muddy field wink

Good VFM compared to the OE continentals that seemed to wear out in 20-25k miles

They are at the premium end at £180 each, but not bad for a 20" quality tyre

I have 20 inch summer wheels and when the season starts I put on a set of 19 inch wheels with Grabber.
The RRS SC works well on road with the Grabbers, there is no increase in road noise.

Thanks for that - I may well go the route suggested with two sets of wheels

I ordered the grabbers in 275x45x20 but on arrival they were grabber GT not AT by mistake

I ended up doing a deal on a set of the Scorpions which obviously have a lot more tread depth than my very used set they replaced but will look further at getting another set of rims and team with some proper ATs

Thanks for the replies
