Yamaha blu-ray players - any thoughts?
Discussion
I have some of their soundbars and receivers (and I am very happy with them) but any comments/experiences on Yamaha Blu-ray players (the upper end ones).
Equally, if there are any Yamaha dealers on here, I would prefer to try and buy from a fellow PHer :-) I know there are some AV installers but not sure on retailers.
Cheers

You do hear a little about them but it's fairly middling. The best are usually Pioneer, Denon and Marantz with OPPO and Cambridge Audio being the heavy hitters for all round Video and Audio performance. The UHP-1H Sony has got some good reviews at it's price point as it has the versatility of the expensive players even if it does not yet play 4K discs
I have one, it performs well if not the quickest or slickest. The menus are a bit old school (an understatement!) but the picture is very good, to be honest I simply purchased to match my amp and as I'm still using my Yamaha Projector I've been happy with the company's build quality.
All my stuff is from their Aventage Range, in jazzy stainless steel finish.
