Hi all
I have a mercedes vito 115, the other day on way to work the battery light displayed on dash with message saying battery alternator visit workshop, I drove it for another 30 mins to work and ended up recovery truck home. As I had access to replacement batteries I thought I'd try swapping battery out for new one, no joy. It would start then lights would stay permanently on, no window power, wiper power, indicators not working, however radio did work.
Recovery man said alternator was producing 16 volts which was too high, and jumping terminals got hot, I have changed the voltage regulator on the alternator but no joy, in fact now it's displaying malfunctions such as abs, brake fluid, stability manager, brake wear. All of which were not showing before I swapped regulator and gave the battery a little charge.
I have been told about a body control module (bcm) which may have become damaged due to extra voltage, would this cause these problems? I assume I need a new alternator? Anything else that would blow which would cause this series of faults? Where would I find the bcm?

Any help would very much be appreciated
Thanks
Rich

How old is the vehicle?
Have a look at the voltage regulator for the alternator.
£60 part which is listed as a wearable part by MB. Basically the contact wears out just like brake pads.
Google it since there is a lovely step by step guide to replace it on a website like MBClub.
The MB alternators are bulletproof. Did mine on a 8 year old W211 e class.
