Remote linkage bushes - what remote linkage bushes?
Discussion
Just drove back home with no 5th and no reverse - had to push it back into the garage! The remote linkage was bouncing around on the prop too in 3rd.
When I had a look underneath one side had no bushes - and no bolts either!
Found some spares on an old box but used the 15mm copper pipe trick instead of the rubber. Much easier to fit and does the job fine. Now back in action - all gears back up and running.

The copper pipe trick - sounds interesting. Can you provide some detail on that with some pics...?

Well what you do is cut a few lengths of pipe, I reckon abut 10mm (side) and 15-20mm (forward)and clamp then in there instead of the bushes. Use a couple of penny washers too so the bolt heads don't disappear into the 'oles.
It clamps down harder than the rubber washers but works fine. It's not like the wedge is "refined" after all.

I went for standard rubber from ANC parts who I've used for a fair bit of stuff over the years. They are on flea but also have a direct store. Part number is UKC854.

Actually there's a fair amount of room under there - ho need to shin them unless you have hands like ham hocks.
As an epilogue to my story I couldn't get 3rd and 5th again the other day, I thought "oh no have the new bolts undone already!" but the fix was easy - pick up the cigar lighter I had dropped into the gaiter hole when I plugged in the tyre pump, and put it back in the socket!
