Long time lurker on here however been reading the stolen Cosworth thread (very interesting but sad!) so thought I'd fire a couple of pics of my blue ovals.

I think I did a thread about my mk4 Escort a couple of years ago, but I still have her and coming up for 7 years of ownership!

Fairly rare in Olympic Gold, and was purchased as a completely stock 28k, 2 owner car. It now runs an ST170 engine on 48mm Weber Alpha throttle bodies, LSD box, poly bushes, 16” Comps, RS interior and brakes etc. Hasn’t been on the road for past couple of years due to purchase of my Cosworth, but regularly started and moved about. Recently moved to a house with a nice big barn so she is getting the little bit of tlc she needs and can’t wait to get her back out again:

And my late Sapphire 4x4 Cosworth in Nouveau Red. Owned for about a year and a half and love her to bits. One of last ones with the colour coded spoiler tip, rounded dash and electric sunroof. Stage 3 running gear with all the usual stuff. Bought it with the 18” grey Compomotives but recently picked up the 17” Rondells for a wee change. Also sourced a set of standard ‘sharktooth’ wheels as love the look of them too. Car has covered 88k and just covered a 750 mile round trip to RRG without skipping a beat.

Very different cars to drive, but equally fun! Sapphire is lovely on a long drive, especially when wife and daughter are with me but Escort is a hoot on the back roads, with a soundtrack that can hurt your ears if you try!

And a couple of quick pics from earlier this year when my old man had a Sapphire for a while and my brothers S2 Turbo...both now sold unfortunately!

Hope you like em 😀

Lovely!

That escort is the mutts nuts! A quick question on the set up, are you still running the vvt? If so how have you got it controlled? What sort of power is it making?

I'm tempted to build an st motor for my kit car.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks dude!

VVT is on an on/off switch, which is a bit crude but works perfectly! I rarely have it off to be fair...it just smoothes the idle out. There are a few kits out there now that can control it automatically but its never really bothered me!

It showed 193bhp on the R/R and managed a 13.7 1/4 mile so its fairly nippy!

Great engines and cheap. Can buy a complete car for less than £500 and make most of your money back selling the surrounding bits! My engine is completely bog standard except the bodies and a decent exhaust and it take a hell of a lot of abuse. I think if I were to look into headwork and cams I'd be around 240 bhp.

Thanks ALOT for the info!beer

I have looked at the vvt control boxes and I know there are a couple of aftermarket ecu's can control it now though finding someone who knows how to map it properly maybe a different story!

There was a 240bhp st motor on eBay not long ago, cheap it was not though! Around £5k iirc. laugh My daily is an ST170 so maybe the engine will find itself tucked in the kit cars engine bay.

13.7 1/4 is impressive! I love how it looks fairly normal too. Epic work mate!
