Hi all

Pretty crap first post to write since I bought my DB9 volante a few months back. But hoping someone can help

Car was parked on the street and some
Van driver opened a door right onto the point of the bonnet and legged it. The quote from Aston was £3k plus (it was in getting some things down under warranty). Just wondering if anyone out there can recommend a body shop they have used for Astons near London that might come in at a more competitive price and avoid me having to use insurance?

Many thanks

Scott

Typically the hood can't be repaired because it's aluminum, so it has to be replaced. A shop with a lot of experience with that type of metal can give it a shot, but chances are it'll crack when they try to fix it. All you have to lose is a little bit of labor cost if they charge you for it, since the hood is scrap now anyway.

I have been told that by someone, but the trick is finding a place that you can trust to give the a go at fixing it first.

Try M+A Coachworks in Kentish Town.

Who ever does it needs to warm the metal before trying to pull that out. Ally is very pliable when warm but fairly brittle when cold.

See if you can get Martin Leach - www.dentman.co.uk - martin@dentman.co.uk

He came highly recommended and fixed a nasty dent on a DB5 for me in London a couple of years ago. He is used to aluminium and used by the Aston classics trade. I believe he has done work at the Maclaren factory on cars damaged in production.

Ahhhhh I feel your pain. That's a proper whack they done there isn't it. Not just a gentle door opening into your car but a feking big whack on purpose I would wager.

gulp at the repair cost.

Chiltern Aston are just outside the M25 in Hertfordshire and they do aluminium repairs. I've seen them make DB5 panels but they also have plenty of new era cars there as well.
