Later this month I am expected to take delivery of a new 911 S4. I know a guy who has already taken delivery of his brand new 911 S2 however even before he sat in the car it has already done 20 miles on the clock. I phoned the same dealership today and the salesman mentioned that the average pre delivery mileage is about 15 miles on the clock, however it can range between 10 and 20 miles and can be up to 100 miles. The Salesman mentioned that for some unknown reason the pre delivery mileage is noticeably higher on 911's than other cars within the Porsche range.

On my previous cars the pre delivery mileage has always been less than 7 miles on the clock when I have taken delivery of the new car. Have other members also experienced between 10-20 pre-delivery miles recorded when they have taken delivery of their 911 or has it been much less?

I am wondering if this particular dealership for some reason adds additional mileage on new 911's more so that other dealerships within the UK?

Picked up my Cayenne S last Saturday, had 18 miles on the clock, not a problem for me, 5 days later nearing 500 miles. My Boxster Spyder had 7 miles when I collected fwiw.

Don't know about 911 models, but my Cayman had 8 or 9 miles.

Up to 20 seems OK but 100 sounds very wrong!

You can ask the dealer to reset it to 0 if it bothers you. They can do this once.

Hi

OPC Guildford two weeks ago I had 11miles on my 991 C2S.

Although after a trip to Switzerland / Northern Italy (cycling and driving lots of the big passes - Grimsel, Susten, Furka, OberAlp, Fusen, Umbrail, Stelvio, Gavia, Mortirolo) it has 1800 miles on it.

I guess it's not going to be a garage queen

had 13 miles on my 7.2 GT3 at the time. My wife's Macan Turbo was in a similar range

Not unusual practice for new cars is my understanding. think its only allowed up to a certain mileage but some specialist cars have to complete many road test miiles pre delivery from the factory and are then reset before delivery to the dealer or at the dealer itself.

Think I saw a documentary about the Veyron doing a couple of hundred miles before delivery. Wheels and all under body tray parts were replaced before delivery and the cars had paint protection film replaced and paint inspected before delivery.

Not sure I understand your problem. These cars are not precious. You have warranty.
Do you really think a few miles really make that difference?
Try click and collect?

aren't there regularly pictures of Ferraris all wrapped in blue protective film because they take them out to make sure everything works properly - I would sure hope they do more than 7 miles before handing me the car

All cars coming off the production line are test driven on the open road by an experienced Porsche driver, it is the final bit of the QA process. How many miles I don't know.
