I'll tell the tale quickly....

couple of weeks ago someone I'd seen around town approaches me and having identified me as the owner of a bright green Lamborghini proceeds to tell me that he works at a school for autistic children... one pupil loves cars, and having done well at school was promised a visit to Lamborghini London....

unfortunately, getting him there would be a total nightmare, and asked if I could help out with any dealers or shows etc..... we got chatting, and I suggested I'd come to the school with mine and take him for a blast....

anyhows, made time today, went down and met the lad and his dad, took him for a 40 minute drive incl in town, to feel like a celebrity, and generally talked cars with him.. though I must say he preferred talking gtr than supercars lol....

just got this...

Good on you smile Too many owners are far too precious about their cars.

Well done sir! Likely the lad will remember that for the rest of his life. I can still recall the first Lambo (an Espada) I encountered many years ago.

Brilliant, well done sir!

I picked up a previous car after a service once (F430) and the dealer had put a freebie bag on the passenger seat, Ferrari cap, pics and odds and sods. A really good little bundle.

I stopped on the drive home at a shop and when I came out there was a bloke with his Downs Syndrome son looking at the car. Guy was really nice and asked if I minded, I said of course not and asked the boy if he wanted to sit in the drivers seat. He could just reach the brake pedal so I let him push the start button, his face was glowing.

After a bit of chat I rembered the goodie bag so handed it to the kid. His look was wonderful when he pulled the stuff out but the Dad was so thankful and gracious it almost moved me to tears. He said it was a fantastic thing to do and he would never forget it.

So much pleasure for so little effort.

Well done Mohan, that's a wonderful gesture. Done a few like that with my cars in the past and it does leave you feeling very happy that you have made a child's dream come true in many cases.

I have to say that taking my Rosso Corsa Nart Striped Speciale out what makes me smile is the kids' faces and enthusiastic expressions of amazement.. I never fail to wave back or give a little unnecessary rev, slow down for them to take the picture or outright stop for them to pose in front of the car and if I am parked have them look around the interior of the car.. I just remember as a kid how distant the Ferrari ownership looked and how I never got to approach a car let alone an owner..

I do remind them to work hard at school though because it's the only way to get one... :-)

And yes I do think that kids have not assimilated the bad habit of envy.. and can just let it out.. whilst their adult counterparts have just got bitter.. unless you go to Italy with the car that is.. and over there everybody's an enthusiastic kid !

Only got a Porsche 996, but I have had the pleasure of providing it for prom-night drives for several people. Also got a dash cam, so they have a copy of the drive up through the crowds and the sound of the sports exhaust smile

Least I can do tbh smile

Well done to you

What a lovely thing to do, I think this may be my favourite thread. Not one talk of prices, values!

You are all correct, we should all do more of these things, a friend of my Fathers understood I was car mad as a child and did everything to encourage me. He took me to Brands Hatch and that is something that I will never forget, my first motor racing experience.

There's some great photo's there! Being the proud dad of 2 "special" kids- now 20 & 22! A simple thing like donating some time with your pride and joy really can mean the world to them- long may it continue!!
