Which roof mounted bike rack for 996 c2
Discussion
Hi
Hoping to pop to Decathlon (ideally as am going there for other items too) later today and want to buy a roof mounted bike rack for my 996 c2. I recall reading somewhere previously that the mountings are already pre-installed on the car, but could anyone point me to a bike rack that will fit the mountings? Am a bit clueless when it comes to stuff like this. Many thanks!

There should be two strips running front to back along each side of the roof. Inside these you should find two flaps (front and back) each side that push in and reveal the roof bar mounting points.
If you want OEM Porsche kit, you'll need these roof bars: http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod125832/Porsche-9...
Might be worth trying eBay or the PCGB club website classifieds for used ones. You'll then need the cycle carrier too.
I believe that the Porsche kit of this era was all made by MontBlanc (it was for my old Cayenne) but in my experience it's not totally interchangable as the mounting points can differ. Hence the Tequipment bike carrier will typically only fit the Tequipment roof bars. I had a MontBlanc cycle carrier alongside the Porsche Tequipment item and I had to adapt the MontBlanc one to fit the Porsche RTS roof bars.
If you want better value for money, I'd opt for aftermarket such as these Thule items: https://www.roofracks.co.uk/Thule-Fit-Guide/_-/?ma...

You could look at a Seasucker Talon Bike Rack on your 996 C2.
If you do go for a Porsche rack, this is a good fitting guide (albeit for a Cayman)

BTW Chunk49, I sent you an email last week about my carriers, if you're still looking for them

Hi mate sorry for the slow reply. I would be interested but the thing is I don't yet know the measurements of the bikes I'll be carrying (my bike I haven't bought yet and my girlfriend's bike is up in Scotland) so not sure what to do re sizing? Thoughts welcome!
