Happened Friday night. I posted this in the NW Spotted thread:

Horrendous weather in the Lakes on Friday. I came off the M6 onto the A590 and saw a green Huracan pass me, going a bit faster than he should have been... as he soon discovered a mile further down when he binned it through the barriers into the trees. Driver was a bit bloodied but seemed okay. The emergency services arrived very quickly given the location. The car itself did a good job structurally, but it was still fked unfortunately.

So what conclusion have you drawn on the crash?..you say he was going a bit faster than he should of been...but thats quite easy in a lambo, do you reckon it was his fault then?..was there standing water?,ie aquaplane off, or just lost it on greasy roads?, or was someone else involved?

interesting to know what causes these things

On the basis that no one else presumably crashed it's a fairly safe assumption that it's inexperience or overconfidence, or both. smile

I don't take my car out in the wet... main reason is you drive around feathering the throttle because it's on summer tyres which are ste in the wet.... tyres for supercars afford some grip in the wet, but not enough to allow you to drive like it's still dry.... even with 4wd...

My 8 year old likes to watch supercar crashes on youtube, it does amaze me how many people crash just doing things like pulling out of junctions in a Lamborghini.

I am no driving god but I can do it, and I can drive round corners without spinning off into a field / tree etc!

How is it any different from any other car? Lambo's have speedos and I assume the driver had full control of his right foot.

Bit of a daft comment, a supercar such as the lambo is a little different to 'any other car' in many regards, fatter rear tyres means it aquaplanes easier, if indeed standing water was an issue, they are a lot faster accelerating than 'any other car' so it is indeed a little easier to get into trouble on greasy roads
hence why I asked the question of the original post as too any idea how it happened, if someone else was involved, ie if someone pulled out etc, or if the driver just hit standing water, could of crashed for many reasons, and here we are again with most people wanting to go 'rubbish driver going to fast, cannot handle car' type of response..this maybe the case, but would be good if any more evidence as to what happened came up, someone clearly took a pic so was hoping there might of been a better clue to the cause...weather has been mentioned which leads one to think over excited right foot & not taking care in the conditions....

My guess is that the crash probably involved a rental car and a phone-camera movie intended for Youtube...
