Hello.

I've chopped in the V8 Vantage and gone for a Vanquish. Amazing motor. It's ex Marketing for Aston.

I have a couple of issues I'm after some advice on.

1) Is it possible to enable the running lights all the time?
2) first drive was down to Cornwall and my back is killing me. Where am I going wrong with seat position?

Thanks in advance.

Did you have Q put in a V8 instead of the standard V12? Did you not find it underpowered? .:-)
Congratulations! Your new V12 Vanquish looks fab and has the right engine this time!
1) I think your dealer can turn them on.
2) I don't know, I have the carbon lightweight seats and no back ache, again I think it is a question of finding the right settings and store them.

Raise the front of the seat base, and lower the rear, so its not flat. Sit close enough to the pedals to be able to brake firmly, without having to straighten your leg. The LAST thing to adjust, is the steering column, so that your arms are drooped. Happy motoring.

Absolutely gorgeous looking car! Congratulations. Out of interest, did you have a test drive of the Tungsten Vanquish they have in stock? Just wondered what you thought of it?

I took their demo out for a test drive but not the Tungsten silver one. I thought they had sold that.

Have you used Grange before? Customer service is fantastic there.

Yes I've bought two cars from them previously, I like them. I made an offer on the Tungsten Vanquish two weeks ago but was told it had sold subject to a test drive, just wondered if you had been the buyer and perhaps changed your mind. A long shot I know. biggrin

That wasn't me. Sorry. I had a feeling it was owned by another client and they were selling it on behalf of them.

Looks like we have both traded Vantages for Vanquish at about the same time and to Vanquish which were built around the same time (my KY65 registration is within 5 letters of yours, mine was also AML Marketing and also carried the Reg. No. V12 AML for a while - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... )

I thought the running lights are enabled all the time by default but need to check now - will come back to you on that.

Nice. I don't think my carried the V12AML plate. Was yours used in the Gumball rally too?

The running lights seem to be off unless you use the headlights. The garage seem to think this is normal.

Headlamp units look similar to like mine - where are the running lights exactly?

Also can I ask you what you think of the 8 cogs in manual mode guys? Mine is a six gear Touchtronic II and I always drive it on the paddles. Missus has an 8 speed BM and its so many gears I feel like a canoeist i'm paddling so much! Puts me off using it like that.

Cheers & congrats on a stunning car smile

You can switch the running lights on by hitting the headlight button on the remote.

The Touchtronic III is very good. A massive improvement on the SSII in the Vantage I had before. I don't feel it's as good as the DSG gearbox in my Audi though. You're right. There's plenty of gears but I don't tend to go up to 7 or 8 unless I'm on the motorway at which point it's usually in D anyway.

I'm very pleased with the Vanquish. I just want to drive it..... My most favourite part is just hitting the accelerator to the floor and hearing that V12 go nuts.

I am still playing around with the various modes so I will come back to you in a few weeks smile

With the Sportshift on the Vantage I was using the paddles 100% of the time and it has been easy to just fall into that mode with the Vanquish. With the Touchtronic III though the auto mode is very good and sometimes you forget whether you are paddling or not!

In Auto-Normal mode it can be a bit reluctant to kickdown and 8th is very long. Auto-Sport sorts that out but generally you do take over and use the paddles. Nice feature is the multiple downshift mode holding down the downshift paddle as you brake/slow down - puts you in the perfect lowest gear for when you acceleratr again
