Cure for Boot Lid Warp

OK i got a the boot lid warp, for the past two years have unbolted the strut and used a bungie cord to pull down the affected side when parked up in the garage.

Has anyone got any other ways to cure the warp and help get it back in shape well almost shape as I expect she will never fully recover.

That can be caused by a stiff boot strut .

If you use a Golf tailgate strut then it is the right size but about twice the required pressure and causes the lid to bend - is yours permanently warped now...?

You can bend fibre glass believe it or not by heating it up ( I used a heat gun carefully ) bend to new shape and keep it there till it cools wear some welding gloves while you do it as it will burn your fingers. It has worked twice for me. I bent a flat sheet of fibre glass to create the top upswept part of my diffuser you can make it out here....................

I don't think heating a Chimaera boot lid would do the paint any good.

Stiff strut, no, its age and too powerful replacement one about 8 years ago.

So any other ideas guys?

Someone must have done some sort of cure in the past.

I put some washer jet tubing inside the boot seal on one side. This helped the boot to sit properly. Would this help?

Just a thought- cant you remove the gas ram and replace it with a simple strut like this?

It wont then stress the boot. Works for me on the Ginetta.
