I have nothing of value to add other than to point out what an incredible deal that is. Crikey!

Should have said this was an increase over last year for no reason other than premiums generally appear to have gone up this year. Was with Quote me Happy last year (Aviva) & paid £360, but they wanted £510 at renewal last week so moved to Hastings Direct.

My M5 (E60, not F10 wink) is around £500 as part of a multi car policy with Admiral. 30, London, 3yrs NCB so not bad I think!

The F10 would have been around the same premium.

Strange, I wonder why mine is coming out so expensive. My details are: 33, 6 years no claims, live in SW15, 6k miles a year, leisure use only, clean license, no accidents in 5 years.

As I said previously, my Aston was worth twice this and the premium was c£600pa. Only thing it could be is the postcode, as I was living in SW19. The area I've moved to however is much nicer, but I guess they base it on the entire postcode?

Actually I just tried a single car quote for the M5 and it was £1100, whereas a multicar along with a 911 is £1150!!

But try playing around with the parameters, some of them are completely counterintuitive. e.g. garaging might be more expensive than street, 5000 miles might be more expensive than 8000 miles, etc. It's all a silly game really.

I think that I paid £650 for mine. 44 yrs, full NCB,Surrey Postcode, 10k mile and parked on the drive. That was with Privilege.

Going Multi Policy with Admiral. £1100 with £50k of home contents insurance thrown in. Not too bad as I was paying £600pa to Hiscox anyway.

Insurance is a dark art!

Wow you're completely right! Played around with the perimeters and got it down to £770. 8000 miles is the optimum millage and far cheaper than 6000 miles. Social and commuting is cheaper than social only. Also surprisingly it's more expensive to keep the car on your drive, then keeping it on the street. This makes no sense at all!

Couple of reasons I can think of:
1) if it's on the street then the thief won't necessarily know which house he needs to steal the key from
2) if it's on the drive, the thief/vandal has some protection from being completely out in the open
3) a 'leisure only' policy means all your miles will be for 'fun' aka hooning - whereas business/commuting means it might be used mainly for the daily drive

Also one of the main is reasons is insurers cottoned on to the fact that everyone puts "driveway" even if it isn't just to get a cheaper price, so the ratings were flipped.
