I'll ask on here rather than being impertinent on the owners club forum ... but for people who aren't entering AMOC concours events, what is there to do?

The next event is charging 40 quid for the privilege of turning up to a stately home that I recently visited for about 1/2 of that, so I'd be keen to know if these are worth doing.

Don't take it too seriously and it's good fun.

It's £25 to enter concours, £35 to turn up and visit and £40 on the day to enter concours for judging. Done mind paying to enter judging, but I too am questioning the entry prices. Last Ferrari Owners Club concours was free to attend. I would like to know the answer to.

Whatever you do, don't post this on the AMOC forums! After the Woburn one there was almost an outbreak of war when people realised they had been fleeced (paying more than the general public who turned up n the day). I think Tony is still on defcon 5

If you're not entering the concours then it is what it is; a chance to look around some very well maintained Aston Martins in a pleasant setting. Usually some refreshments to hand and every now and then a bit of light music. Personally I get my fix of that at Burghley....

Hehe... I did think it would be tantamount to trolling to post my question there.

I will probably pass. The cost is daylight robbery to be honest. I would expect a discount on the normal entry fee to the venue, not to actually pay double for the privilege of parking amongst fellow owners.

Sadly this is the "Aston Tax" rolleyes I've just learnt to ignore it as it's not even close to the postcode or HMRC Tax, and at least I get to enjoy the "Aston Tax" with you lot thumbup

Well said Rob! Horses for courses, but as a leveller, £46k+ was altruistically raised for fabulously good causes at Burghley too... Can I ask if the owners club is a privately owned business/charity/non-profit organisation etc? No judgement - just knowledge of a fact that doesn't seem easily Googlable smile

From what I know (which is limited), it is a not-for-profit that supports the Aston Martin Trust which is a charitable / educational trust.

You're correct, AMOC is not-for-profit and iirc 23% of subscriptions go to AMHT (albeit there's a major row going on about that and the relationship with the Trust)

The issue with the Concours seems to be primarily the cost of putting them on (including venue hire). Entrants are subsidised (to encourage people to enter), so it seems there's a counterbalance of charging non-entrants more. It's a difficult (and occasionally sensitive issue)
